Issues
Introduction[?]Introduce yourself to the voters. Give an overview of your philosophy.
My name is James Judge and I am sick and tired of the b.s. that has been going on in Washington for decades. We need less government in our lives. My largest issue is restoring the economy and focusing on new economic growth. Additionally, we need to change the way that the government views and spends tax payer's dollars. Spending is out of control and it is time to put the breaks on. Furthermore, illegal immigration is just that, illegal. We need to start enforcing the law, and encouragin people to enter the country legally.
Abortion[?]What is your stand on abortion?
I do not believe that abortion should be used as a form of birth control. Too many people don't accept responsibility for their actions.
Economy[?]How would you address current and future economic issues?
The economy is the number one priority. Getting Americans back to work should be the focus on every politicians mind. This issue hits very close to home. I know first hand what it is like to be out of work, behind on the bills and struggling to make ends meet. My father's business, which he started in the late sixties is about to possibly go under because of a lack in new construction. The bailouts were an awful idea. If a company fails because of poor management, and poor decisions, why should the American taxpayer be forced to bail them out. The government wouldn't do that for your family business, and they won't do it for mine. Once again, this falls back on making responsible decisions.
Education[?]What are your views on the Education system?
Both of my sisters are teachers and I have the upmost respect for them. Education is extremely important, and we need to give our teachers the tools they need to do the job. In societies past, being a teacher was an honored profession. Now we too many times honor professional athletes and movie stars, and for what? In addition to the fundamentals of a typical education, it should also help the student understand the meaning behind life. The importance of being good human beings and upstanding members of society. Additionally, it should teach the young why it is important to contribute to their commjunity. Education will be one of my major focuses.
Energy Policy[?]How would you address the energy needs of the country?
We need to become more energy independant. However, taxing the energy sector, thus essentially raising the cost of living for Americans is not the way to go about it. Americans are already in a tough situation when it comes to the economy and how far the dollar actually goes.
Environment[?]How would you balance the needs of the environment with the needs of the economy?
I think everyone would agree that we need to be good stewards of the environment. Being a former member of the Coast Guard, I understand the value of protecting the environment. I have seen what oil spills and pollution can do.
Foreign Policy[?]What should the United States' role be in the global community?
I believe in supporting my fellow countrymen first, and then assisting the world. Far too often, politicians make decisions based on how the world will view the outcome. As a member of the global community, the global impact of a decision is important, however, it should not be placed before what is for the better good of the American public.
Gay Marriage[?]What are your views on the rights of committed gay couples?
As a Christian, I believe that homosexuality is wrong; however, those who do not share the same views as me, should not be subjected to my judgement, as I am just merely a mortal man. I believe that if a gay couple would like to unite in a union, seperate from a Holy marriage inside of the church, then I have no issue with that.
Health Care[?]How would you address the current health care situation?
The government should not interfere with health care. Personally, I believe there is already too much government in our lives. I do not want the government telling myself or anyone in my family what doctor they have to see. It is not the American way. An additional note however, as with health care and many things people cannot afford, I believe as members of a community we should help the less fortunate. I do not believe the government should impose this on anyone. But, as a whole we should take better care of each other.
Immigration[?]How would you balance immigration and the needs of the workforce?
Illegal immigration will be another one of my top focuses. The government needs to start enforcing the law. I am all for legal immigration. Our country was founded in immigration, however, coming over here illegally, not paying taxes, and using fraudulent means to stay here is against the law. These people should be dealt with strictly, and we need to beef up our border security.
Iraq[?]What is your policy regarding the current War in Iraq?
I will put is plain and simple like this. If we are going to decide we want to stay and win these wars, well, we need to throw everything we can at it to make sure we wrap things up as soon and safely as possible. If we are not going to win, and we are over the war, then we need to bring our troops home. Either way, I support our troops, and as I am an Iraq war veteran, I have seen both the positives and negatives of the war. Additionally, people need to remember not to always believe what they see on tv, read in a newspaper, or hear on the radio. Journalism, tragically, is a business just like anything else. When it bleeds, it leads. Look at the situation in Iraq as the situation in your community. What does the news report? Do they cover the story about charitable giving within the community first or do they cover the murders and rapes first? With the time limits and word limits, news cannot run every story, so they run the ones that will grab people's attention and keep them tuned in to their advertisers.
National Security[?]How would you protect the country?
As always, this is a top priority in my book. We need to maintain security in our country and we need to improve it. We need to supply the Coast Guard, Border Patrol, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, TSA, and DHS, with the resources to do the job. We do not need to go after CIA members, Border Patrol Agents or U.S. Navy Seals for attempting to keep our country safe.
Tax Policy[?]What are your views on taxation?
We do not need to raise taxes. Plain and simple. We need to grab our government agencies by the throat and teach them responsible spending when it comes to tax payer dollars. We need to do away with Fall out funds, and allow local, state and federal government agencies to roll over unspent tax dollars. We need to reward agencies that don't over spend. Money does not grow on trees as the current administration believes. We all work hard for our money, and to see our government throw it away makes me sick to my stomach. Additionally, we need to create tax incentives for small businesses to create jobs and increase growth domestically. I do believe on the other hand that there should be penalties for those who employ people outside of the U.S. to save money. Personally, I am sick and tired of calling anywhere to speak to customer service and being transferred to India.
Social Security[?]How should Social Security operate in the future?
This is important because many people have banked on this their whole lives. It does need reform, and once again, it needs some responsible decision making withinn the administration.
